I have ALTO 100amx mixer and i don't know how to connect it with my sound card (emu0404).

Can somebody give me some tips for recording distortion? I'm using a Boss DS-1 directly into a PreSonus firebox and it sounds too harsh. I have tried tweaking the settings on the pedal, but haven't had any luck. Is there a particularly good (relatively inexpensive) pedal I can get? or a different approach to recording the distortion?

i have a 1204 fx pro and everyth9ing ive seen on it says i can use it with 4 separate channels using the alt 3-4 buttons but every signal coming into the mics shows up in Cubase on all the channels. everything is set right except on the mixer and ive tried every combination i can think of but nothing solves my problem.

I trying to get a handle on wiring 2 ADC patchbays, but I have a couple of questions first:

1. If I set up all my console inputs to be accesable thru the patchbays, do I then use mic cables with TRS plugs to patch into an input that is normalled (mic inputs snaked from tracking rooms into PB and out to console channels)? And is it ok to run 48v phantom pwr thr the PB?

I am currently using PreSonus firestudio as my interface and was plesently surprised with the quality of the preamps/ converters within.
I also use Joemeek Twin Q Studio Channel as my main preamp for vocals etc.

I am looking to improve my signal path to Cubase as I am expanding my studio in an effort to go professional but on a budget.

first of all, what are the advantages of bouncing MIDI data into a digital audio track for the final product? why not just leave it as a MIDI track?
