Splitting Audio? How is vocal recording supposed to be done?
Ive had no experience with recording vocals but i have myself the necessary equipment. I was just wondering, what is the correct way to go about recording?
recording solid vocals
Hi this is my first post but i'm anxious to hear whta other think on this topic. I have put together a small (very small) studio in my home. I record the vocals through an SM58, the best mic i have, and this runs through a Mackie mixer into an m-audio preamp/interface. I am having a problem recording good vocals.

Handheld dynamic for vocals
I'm looking for a dynamic mic for vocal recordings. I had acceptable results with an Sennheiser E835 in the past, and good results with an MD 422.
There is, of course, the 58, but it feels a little... ehhmm... standard...
How does it compare to the 422, the beta 57 or the evolution mics?

I need a female vocal mic?
I’m looking for a vocal mic for a metso-soprano singing folk music. I have a RODE NT2 and some AKG 1000s but none of them are giving me the sound I’m looking for. I’m looking for warm and liquid! What do you think of the Electro-Voice RE20? Any other suggestions?

Vocal like in the song "california love" and the g
Hi. Anybody know how to get that vocal sound like the vocals from the 80s group Zapp or the song "california love" - I believe Kanye West also has a song with that special vocalsound. Is there any music programs that can do this, or do you need an analog effect-box of some kind?
Know what I mean anyone?
Vocal mic for around $250?
I'm looking for a new vocal mic in the $250 price range. It's going to be more for studio recording, but may occassionally be used live as well (if I can get away with it). I've been considering:
AT3300
Shure Beta 87A
Opinions on those mics? Any others in the price range that I should be considering?

Vocals: PreSonus VXP or Eureka?
The VXP seems more suited for vocals, but it doesn't have the "saturate" feature that the Eureka has that supposedly adds tube warmth.
I'm looking for a good preamp setup to record vocals...
The VXP gives me an expander and a de-esser, but the Eureka seems to offer a better equalizer and the saturate warmth.

Recording Vocals on a mastered beat
Im making a mixed tape, and I'm using other producers mastered beats..what I'm wondering is after recording the vocals and all the other sounds and what nots that I track later. should I compress of or eq the mixdown? It seems to me that this will effect the quality of the beat.
