starting with analog...need reel-to-reel opinions

ive been recording into the computer for a while now. i would like to get a reel-to-reel deck to do some experimenting with but i am totally new to the medium. ive been searching ebay and there are quite a few options. i know it is a crap shoot when dealing with ebay but what are your opinions on the different cheaper ($100-$300) vintage decks out there?

Mastering Analog Processor Budget: $12k

I'm gonna be trading in some old equipment and getting all new stuff for analog mastering (comp, eq, limiting).

Will be using my same Bowers and Wilkens 805s, B&W Sub, and Bryston Amp for monitoring.

So, if you had $12k budget constraint for analog mastering comps, eq and limiting, what would you get?

Using An Analog Mixer With A 1010lt

I used to run them into an old Tascam M-35 analog mixer(8-4-2), and record one instrument at a time into the stock soundcard of my computer, a one man band setup.
