I've just a built a studio at home and Im, using a Behringer mx8000 mixer with a Tascam 8 track reel-to-reel recorder. having a problem setting up. Just wondering if anyone out there still use's this gear and can give me any advice?

My new Yamaha DM2000 seems to play 4dB lower than it should on the master analog output.
If I generate a 1kHz sine tone at -18dFS, I should read -9dB on my analog ppm, but right now it's reading -13dB ppm.
I read the manual very carefully and did not find and answer.
Any help would be appreciated.

I recently performed a line input gain characteristic test on my newest piece of project studio gear (the dbx 386 Dual Channel Vacuum Tube Preamp), by which I compared the quality of a synth module piano program preamped via both the analog & digital sections.

I am looking to invest in a 2 Track deck to mixdown from Digital. I know Fostex and Ampex gear is out there to be found, but I'm curious, being new to Analog ownership, what can be purchased new and from what companies. Specifically looking for a 2 Track 1/2" deck, but open to suggestions from folks using something similar for their mixes.

Im very curiouse about all this analog stuff I keep reading. I read in an article that a lot of short budget pro's are tracking to digital and then mixdown to an analog reel 2 reel and then back into the DAW to add more warmth, punch and depth to the music.

Inst there Anybody still making these? All I found was a Tascam Tascam BR-20 that runs for $3000 at sweetwater.
