good affordable chain for recording bass

I am starting to research my options for good bass chanels (mic preamp, di and a mic for acoustic bass). I will be recording both electric bass (di channel) and acoustic bass (di channel and mic channel). I also need to pick up a good mic for recording acoustic bass. The music I am recording is mainly jazz.

To Bill: Main differences between Bass reflex and Closed

I would like to know the main advantages and disadvantages of each design. I have heard the old popular legends that closed cabinets need much more power and that rear ports help eliminate standing waves.

I know all this might be BS. So nothing better than have the right Pro guy explain us a little bit of this.

Rolling off bass freq. on Bass tracks

I usually do two tracks when i record bass. One of my Countryman DI and the other is mic'd. I am well aware that my monitors are SERIOUSLY lacking in anything under 150hz (Event PS8s) so I have a hard time getting bass to translate well. What I am finding is that almost always I have to roll off all bass below 150-250hz on bass and sometimes bass drum tracks. Even the DI tracks.

I am looking for something to record bass directly into my daw and also use live, preferrabley tube. I don't need a lot of bells and whistles, mostly just a preamp and compression type piece.
