Cubase SX3 Question

In Cubase SX3 part of the mixer is for the input channels. I recently figured out last night that the eq's and inserts on those channels ARE in fact destructive! But the problem is that it seems you can not hear what it sounds like until you record and playback. Is there a way to moniter the input channels with the inserts etc. applied to them? Thanks!

Differences between Pro Tools and Cubase

Hey, let me start by saying I'm completely new to computer recording and I'm needing help getting set up. I'm looking to spend about $700 (maybe $800) for a small setup. I know I'll need software, and interface, a mic, monitors, and a midi keyboard. However, I've already got decent monitors and I'm hoping I can forego the keyboard for a while.

Want to build hi quality, super performing Nuendo/Cubase sys

Am lost in the sea of choice and progress in building a new system for my mid-size commercial studio.

Have been offered a HD3 system for $8000k and bought a 192 converter for $2200... but now I'm not so sure I want to use Pro Tools - I'm a Nuendo/Cubase SX guy. the thoughts of going to Pro Tools depresses me on a software basis.
