Do you keep all you gear powered on?
Hi!
Do yiou guys keep all your studio stuff connected 24 hours?
What about MTBF? Aren't we reducing parts lifetime?
I know that it is very stressing for electronic devices if you keep powering it on/off, lots of start-up current transients and so.
I turn off everything if I plan to travel or stay good part of the day out.
wanna hear it from ya.

Outboard gear or Plugins?
Should I Build my studio setup around rackmont gear, or are plugins of high enough sonic quality to do the job?

Studio/Gear Pics
Anyone who's got pics of their studios, instruments, gear, etc. that don't have obvious brand names showing on them, and wouldn't mind the images being used in web design, post 'em here, or send 'em to my e-mail, plueeeze
If the pic has you in it, that's cool as well, as long as I have permission to use it!

My first high-end gear for mastering.. which would you r
Hi friends..
I think it is already time to leave junior school, project days where I do everything with pluins, digital console and PT.
I do not want to sell one kidney, but which would you recommend me as a "pro" entry gear for more serious mastering?
I just do not want to be seen as "one more guy playing mastering stuff with plugins.."
portable recording gear advice?
In Fall of 2003, I will be studying theory and composition at a fairly large university. This school's performance majors are required to submit a recorded recital at the end of each semester; naturally, many recordists are needed. I have been producing local amateur singers and rappers for about a year on my DAW but have little experience with location recording.

rambling gear Q
In my glorified project studio I have a handfull of comps, from an Alesis that I use to hold the door open to my prized RNCs, with a few older dbxen in between. My experience has led me to believe that this is good enough for tracking and mixdown for the stuff I do, but when it comes time to turn my mix into a demo CD I find myself coming up lacking about half the time.
