Guitar effects setup...

Ok, so my guitarist is absolutely in love with the distortion he gets out of his small 15 watt fender amp. so heres the problem, how to work the fender amp distortion into his pedal board so that the sound could be router either to the fender amp and then through the rest of his effects, or around the fender amp and straight to his effects pedals.

2 Questions (Panning two guitars, EQing drums bass etc)

I have a couple questions for some gurus out there.

First of all, what is the best way to mix two guitar tracks when they are both playing melodic lines (a la Killswitch Engage, Trivium etc)

Should they be panned to the extreme left and right or maybe halfway, or between half and extreme?

Studio Guitar Amps, List your favorites here.

I personally would never feel right about recording a guitarist on a solid state amp on any recording. I don't care if Dimebag did it, I like his riffs but I never did like his tone really. The sound of a miced up tube amp is unmatched.

My absolute favorite combo to record is the Bogner 1x12.

Best way to mic/record electric guitar amps in the studio?

Forums

Hey all,

Just wanting to hear everyones thoughts on their preffered method of recording heavily distorted electric guitar (lets say a marshall JCM2000 stack) in the studio.

What are your preffered mic options and why?

How do you all get a phat crunchy guitar sound..EQ/layering/panning etc?

Would be good to hear some suggestions as I have a project coming up.
