Recording Guitars: 4x12 Overkill?
Hey guys/girls.
I'm recording guitar through a dual rectifier head, Micing up a 4x12 cabinet. I'm using a variety of sounds, from clean to fairly overdriven, mostly standard rock tones.

Sebatron vmp-2000e for Heavily Distored guitars?
Well I've been searching for a two channel pre to record metal guitars and I've heard so many good things about the Sebatron I'm definatley considering purchasing one.
But would this pre sound good for heavily distored guitars?
I searched the boards to see if any one had used a Sebatron pre for this purpose, but I couldn't find any.
Guitar Compression
When recording heavy distorted guitars, going from a tube head driving a cabinet, Micing the cab, into a preamp, and then into DAW, what's the ideal place in the chain to apply compression?

Recording at High SPL (Heavy Guitar), with a Condenser Mic
I'm going to be tracking some Heavy Guitars for a project I'm working on, and I want to use a condenser on the guitar cab. But I'm a little worried that this will damage my condenser Mic. I plan on using a Studio Projects C3 along with an SM57.
I was wondering if there is anyway to measure SPL so I know if it's safe to use my C3 at close range on the Guitar Cab.
big fake stereo guitars
I'm all for Micing up a real amplifier, and have put in my fair amount of time experimenting with stereo Micing and double tracking to get big stereo guitars. I used some amp sims to add to existing "real" guitars, but passed most of them off as not quite able to stand on their own.

Best way to record Acoustic Guitar and Vocals
I know a similar post was made earlier in one of these forums, but I am curious to see what you all think is the best combination of mics and pres for a folky/early dylan (63-65) kind of vibe for recordings. The instruments being used are Harmonica, Acoustic Guitar and Voice. It would be preferred for all 3 to be recorded simultaneously (as all are played by the artist).

The best setup to record distorted guitars directly?
So far I've been using software amp sims like Amplitube, Warp, Thrash, etc. The best results I get when I run a guitar thru my DigiTech RP100 and apply Warp's JC-Clean (RP100 doesn't vave good cab sims) This is the closest I can get to this unique sound of a real miced cabinet.
I've heard that hardware amp sims like POD XT do the job well, do they?
Or, maybe a tube preamp?

Hi!
Can anyone guide me to a perfect heavy distortion guitar recording similar to something like Ill Nino, In Flames, Kiss (from the Revenge album) or equals?
