Micing old-time acoustic guitar & vox
Working a client that does "old time" acoustic/vocals (with bass and drums but I'm mainly concerned about the acoustic/vox). Any ideas on Micing to capture that ballsy Martin sound?

Ive done some recording using 2 guitar amps and two mics (sometimes even 2 mics per amp),panned left and right at the board, using two channels, to try to get that big (I'm standing next to the amp----big room---full sound).
Does anyone out there use this method?-if not,how about some ideas

Bright Acoustic Guitar Sound...
Hey All --
Im about to record a piece that has some acoustic guitar in it, and i want it to sound nice and bright with barely any low end.. like most commercial tunes..
I only have a Neumann TLM 103 to mic it...
Where abouts should i place the mic to get this type of sound?
Or should i mic the middle and just EQ it afterwards?
Thanks!

Having trouble re-amping guitar tracks
I was trying out Kurt's suggestions about re-amping the guitar tracks to create layer of heavy sounding guitars. I threw a cables from the headphone output of my aadrvark q10 straight into the clean channel of my mesa boogie dual rectifier head. I hear the guitar allright but I aslo hear a pretty loud "hum" sound. I tried using the main outs from the Aardvar but same story.

Dynamic or condenser on Guitar amp?
Hey guys! I've been using an Shure sm57 for recording a guitar 2x12 cab. I was wondering what I would expect if I used a Studio projects C4 condenser on it. I'm buying a SP C3 for vocals and am wondering if I should buy a pair of C4's.
PS- It would be a overdriven or heavy distortion guitar tone(line6 Duoverb amp)

from killer guitar tones to killer snare sounds
i've been reading some stuff on how to mix and match and overdub to get a killer guitar tone for the track...
what i really missed in the last session i had was the snare sound that i had in my head.. was looking for a tight, compressed, fat sounding snare, but couldn't get anywhere close to that..
Langevin DVC on guitar?
How does the Langevin DVC sound on distorted guitar?
Anyone using it for anything other than vocals?

Big Guitar for 3 Pc. Blues
I have always been a fan of that Texas Blues sound started by Albert Collins and later by Billy Gibbons and Stevie Ray Vaughan. SRV's engineer on his early work really captured that sound perfectly. It sounds like your at a live show with big guitar all around. I'm not looking to copy it, just get some of that big guitar sound into our recordings.
