I am running an Mbox 2 into an iMac G4, and whenever I plug my keyboard directly into the DI input on the back, it makes a high pitch noise that is very annoying and impossible to get rid of with EQ without slaughtering the sound! Somebody please help! Oh yeah, I'm using a 1/4" unbalanced instrument cable...

I am wondering about how usb keyboards work. Do you just connect it to the computer with usb and the recording program interprets it like audio (usb microphone) or does it send midi commands via usb?

I've recorded a lot of keys, but I'm curious about my choices since they all have different outputs etc. I don't know much about how electronic keys structure their own gian. What is the most likely way to get a good sound.
Direct to converters? Hi Z? Pre line level? If there are balance outs I suppose I would use them first ... but. who knows?

trying to hook up my keyboard to record to my boss br900. .keyboard is a radio shack md-1800. and right now i have midi out from br900 to midi in of keyboard and rca from br900 input to a Y cable 1/4 adapter into the md-1800...when i hit the keys no sound comes out of the headphones i have plugged into the br900 i hear a slight click but not the actual note

I'm looking to not spend a whole lot, and would like a new one so i don't get a damaged used one. I'm an Emcee, and would like a keyboard for some pretty good bass and synth sounds. I make my beats with reason, so the beats on the keyboard don't have to be great. I'm looking to spend under 300. The Alesis Micron is just a little too pricey for me at 400. Thanks.

Not sure what forum this belongs on, but... What programs (XP) offer differant sounds to use with a midi/usb keyboard? And what are some of the better ones? Such as the sounds offered in Apple's Garageband, like Grand Pianos, Synths, strings, SFX, etc. Things that can be played with a midi/usb keyboard.

Hi I'm sorta new to recording and have been looking at buying a midi keyboard/controller. I have aquired reason and native and am also working on getting a few other programs(rewire refill Ableton etc)... anyway I have been trying to research midi keyboards/controllers but to be honest I don't know really know the difference between the boards or what is best for me.

hey everyone i just got a Pro Tools mbox pro 2 rig and Pro Tools isn't picking up the Yamaha keyboard I'm trying to connect to it. This is the first rig that ive tried to set up myself so i dont know too many alternatives. Any suggestions?

What is the main difference between the two... a site when i went on to electronic keyboards gave me the choice of synthesizer or keyboards and i was unsure on the differences...
