mixing violin

hello. sorry about my english.
i'm 17 years old. play in violin.
in our school i and some friend do along a party once a month.
we are drums, keyboard, e. guitar and violin.
we have a good mixer.
my problem isthat when we play all together. my violin is hear good only in the E string - the treble notes.

Mixing?

I aint got Studio Headphones and monitors,

so whats the best way to mix?
cuz everytime i record something it sounds good at my side but
when i givit to somone else the vocals example are to low for the beat etc

SOO any ideas on how to mix without the studio headphones?

Mixing MIDI drums: clipping/distortion.

I'm currently working on a music project in Garageband [yes, not the best DAW, but I'm comfortable with it, and I can't afford high-end DAWs]; while I think I'm able to mix most audio fairly well, I'm still having trouble with drum mixing. I'm using Addictive Drums for the drum input; while I'm able to "record" the MIDI tracks the way I want, I'm having trouble mixing them.

Mixing help..

So I've always loved recording.. And have pretty much got the hang of capturing a good sound.

But I can't seem to grasp the stages after that (compression etc).

All I can afford is software with my part-time job (as a student).

What are the best compressor/limiter plugins that are available to someone like me?
