Recording and Mixing Bass
Ok, so I am fairly new to recording an mixing. I'm using Logic 8 and an emu 0404usb interface. One thing that I have never been satisfied with is my bass tone. What is the best way to record bass? What's the best way to mix it? How do you guys record and mix bass? I'm playin/recording hard rock and metal type music.

Mixing vocals question
I am mixing 8 vocals and need to add a bit of reverb for room ambiance. Is there an sonic difference between mixing the vocals to a submaster and then applying the reverb, or applying the reverb to each vocal individually and then mixing them down?
Thanks for any thoughts...

Preamps - Next Step Up From Mixing Desk Preamps
Hello,
at the moment I'm using the preamps on my Allen and Heath Mixwizard 3 Mixing Desk for recording everything (drums, guitar, bass, vocals).
Im looking to buy a dedicated 2-channel pre-amp to record overheads, and guitar, bass and vocal overdubs
Upgrading my mixing monitoring chain. Subwoofer?
Right now I have
2)KRK Rokit RP5's(originals)
1)KRK Rokit RP10S Sub
Now, My budget is around $1500, could go higher.
And though I love the sub...do you feel its necessary to have a subwoofer?
Mixing in computer speakers before studio monitors
I was just curious. Does anyone here mix a little in regular computer monitors before going on to refine in studio monitors?
Mixing MIDI drums: clipping/distortion.
I'm currently working on a music project in Garageband [yes, not the best DAW, but I'm comfortable with it, and I can't afford high-end DAWs]; while I think I'm able to mix most audio fairly well, I'm still having trouble with drum mixing. I'm using Addictive Drums for the drum input; while I'm able to "record" the MIDI tracks the way I want, I'm having trouble mixing them.

Mixing help..
So I've always loved recording.. And have pretty much got the hang of capturing a good sound.
But I can't seem to grasp the stages after that (compression etc).
All I can afford is software with my part-time job (as a student).
What are the best compressor/limiter plugins that are available to someone like me?

Studio Mixing Engineers, Future Job in Demand?
What do you guys think? Will there be more or less demand for Mixing engineers in 5, 10, 20 years?
I really enjoy recording and mixing, but if this is something I want to do for the future, I want to make sure there is a future for it:)
