Acceptable noise levels

Hi all,

I am doing some recording on my computer and I am getting a bit of ambient background noise while recording through a mic. Sonar records it at around -50.5 dB.

Here is what I'm using:

Desktop PC with Sonar 3 PE
Behringer B2 Pro Condenser Mic
2 ch phantom power box
Stock soundcard that came with my computer (SoundMAX digital audio)

need help with noise

i have a firepod and was previously using it with a compaq laptop. i didn't really have any problems, except when getting into a larger number of tracks and effects. it was an old pentium 3, so i decided to upgrade with a newer laptop. my new gateway is an AMD Athlon 64 and beats the compaq in every category, except for the hard drive. the new computer only has a 4200rpm drive.

Does your G5 make funny noises?

Does your G5 make funny noises over your speakers? The beeping, and the squealing when you redraw windows etc.

i have a dual 2Ghz, a new one with 4 dimm slots. And a firwire interface (MOTU 828mkII). INstalling CHud tools and disabling nap seemed to stop the problem but my question is.

Is my machine faulty or do all 4 slotted dual 2's do this?

digital noise from my converter

I have a brand new mac g5 dual 2.0, with a MOTU 2408mk3 card. I was in a session with a client tonight when all the sudden in the middle of the session my sound card started making these little glitch click noises. I was wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this, or if someone out there might have a fix for me.

MOTU 828mkII, random squealing noise

I have a MOTU 828mkII that randomly makes a really annoying high pitch squealing. It does this in when I am recording and playing back in Cubase and when I am just listing to Itunes. I have a PC with windows XP SP 2, but I have done the fix where you download the patch from MOTU and another from Microsoft and chance the regisry etc... Still with the random noise.
