Drum Overhead pattern using 3 mics?
Just thinking about experimenting here, and I'm sure someone has done this before... I've seen live drum setups that use 2 pairs of LDC mics (Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater for example) but I don't know if they're as concerned with phase as we are around here...

Looking for a good set of overheads for under $250.00 US
I am desperately trying to find a pair of drum overheads with similar sonic characteristics to the Audio technica AT4041'S, as these seem to sound quite good in my room, but are unfortunately out of my budget. Any ideas would be great guys.

Greetings! We've spent a lot of time discussing drum overhead mic placement, but one of the things Im wondering is how accurate you folks recommend we get with the distances between mics and sources...

Overhead and snare placement question
Hello there I'm new to this forum but am really liking it...
I have had a enough work in studios to know how to work them but really do not like my engineering skills ( the sound and tones of everything i record )
I am doing a recording of a Hardcore band ( for those who dont know hardcore is a cross of punk and metal ) in a couple of weeks.

Drum Overhead Mics - Studio Projects
I was wondering if anyone has used any of the studio projects
mics as drum overheads and what the results were. Just curious
about how they would sound. Thanks.

Overhead mic stand
I would like to purchase an overhead mic stand with no boom for location recording.
I have been looking around a bit and they don't seem to be standard items at most shops. Does anyone know where I could find such a stand? 12 to 15 ft. tall?
Thanks.
