I am new to DAW recording. I have the following gear and set up and am guilty of buying a bunch of stuff before i knew what all it was. I understand this will irritate some here but please know I have been reading the manuals, testing things out etc etc

I don't know if this qualifies as gear, but I suppose it would. Anyone know where to get good cheap RTAS plugins? All the ones I see are expensive.

How are these plugins? I can't afford WAVES and I don't use pirated software. so is this a good buy? If anyone could tell me the pros/cons I'd really appreciate it!

Hey guys narrowing down the list here trying to decide if I should get 2 Pres or 1 Pre with EQ. I have UAD Studio Pak and Waves Ren. I've never messed with outboard EQ much, just record flat into the DAW (Nuendo 2). I was wondering if the eq section of a Vintech X73i would yield results that can't be achieved with my sofware.

For a long time now, I would just apply whatever basic reverb plug came with whatever program I was using, generally FL studio, so using the "fruity reverb" plugin . .I thought this was fine, and especially like how there were presets for drums, and a studio preset I'd use for vocals...

I was looking into buying a UAD card from mackie, if i invest into it, i will buy some additional plugins including the song OXFORD EQ, and anything else worthy, (is it good for mastering), also i heard that you can run other DirectX and Vst plugins on it, (for ex. waves), is this true?

anyone know where I can find some really good plugins for mastering?

Hey All, I just started to wonder about this as I was reading a thread on the Sonar user's forum. Hardware EQ does cause phase shifting because of the reactive components (capacitors and inductors) in the circuitry. What about software versions? I'm curious to know how the algorithms effect frequency in the virtual world. Is it by manipulating the time line aka phase?

there are tons of really interesting plugins but, I can't find anything similar to Aural Exciter or some Harmonic Enhancers. Actually there is a multi band Harmonic Enhancer in Ibuilt Izotope Ozone but I'm looking for another one because of some compatibility problems with my 2 processor DAW. Any ideas?
