PreSonus Firepod
E-MU X Studio or PreSonus Firepod?
This decision would be based on SNR, internal computer noise isuues, A/D D/A converters (new 192's seem overkill and unproven), ins & outs, preamps , overall value/reliability, solid construction, and whatever else you all would care to add. Your input would be greatly appreciated.

Tascam FW-1082 or PreSonus Firepod
I am looking for a Digital interface with Mic preamps and firewire, that's both reasonable and good sounding (Is there such a device?)
Any thoughts on the above mentioned interfaces or other ones like them, in the same price range will greatly appreciated?
Thank you so much,
Sunflute

A/B Switcher: PreSonus, Mackie?
I am looking for an A/B switcher that will allow me to use various sources and monitors. Two of the units that are in my price range are the PreSonus Central Station and the Mackie Big Knob. It would be great to hear some opinions on these units. Here are some of my concerns and maybe you guys can debunk them.

PreSonus M-80 meters misread low frequencies
Just a note of caution to all M-80 owners, the meters on my M-80 do not read correctly for frequencies below 200 hz. I have noticed this on two other M-80's in our area and I am wondering if they all do this? To test you take a test tone oscillator and feed the M-80 a 1 khz tone at 1 volt, adjust the gain to read 0 db on the M-80.
PreSonus Noise Gates?
My Drawmer noise gate finally crapped out on me after quite awhile of reliable use. (I bought it used anyway so who knows how much time it had on it with the previous owner). I'm planning to replace our studio with another Drawmer gate as I definitely think they make the best workhorse noise gates (I like the Aphex gates also...dont like the lack of a meter on the Aphex though). .
