Pro Tools / Win XP problems after recent upgrade

For the last seven years i had operated a DIGI 001 on Win 98se with a negligable amount of problems, and no pop-ups (well...hardly any!) when browsing the internet...I'm currently doing some songs which need to be converted from PC to Mac format to be transferred and mixed elsewhere -and therefore i have been forced to upgrade my Pro Tools from v5.01 to 6.4 and also my OS too.

Equalizing Through Pro Tools or Vacuum Tube EQ?

I wanted to get some input on which you feel is a more effective and overall better sounding EQ. I'm currently training with a mentor in a small yet fairly reputable studio who says it's usually a matter of preference. From my personal experience, it seems like you would want to try to stay away from as much digital doctoring of a voice as possible?

Differences between Pro Tools and Cubase

Hey, let me start by saying I'm completely new to computer recording and I'm needing help getting set up. I'm looking to spend about $700 (maybe $800) for a small setup. I know I'll need software, and interface, a mic, monitors, and a midi keyboard. However, I've already got decent monitors and I'm hoping I can forego the keyboard for a while.

Should I wait for Pro Tools support in Vista?

Here is my situation. I am definitely buying a laptop for recording purposes and also want to get Pro Tools with the digi003. Right now my only option is to buy a new macbook pro (new models were released this week). However, I recently read that Pro Tools will be supported by vista sometime this summer. Now I don't know if I should get a vista based laptop or a macbook pro.
