I've been recording with Sonar 3 for some time now, and have had very good results with it, but I keep hearing about the popular Pro Tools, used in professional studios: what is it that makes it so outstaing over the rest of the recording programs? Has it got anything that makes it special?

Hey all...a two part question...

I currently have a 61 key triton workstation. Switching over from playing my rhodes to this thing is pretty painful- the key action is awful. So I want weighted keys.

Question 1: anyone using that new m-audio 88 key hammer action controller? It looks amazing, and at $500...a good deal.

I love nuendo and I would prefer to stay with it. I currently have MOTU interfaces but what would be an upgrade? what's in between the motu, maudio, etc and pro tool HD?

Digi recomends the Canopus ADVC-100 to play quicktime movies on a NTSC monitor on a Mac but not on a PC (not tested says them) and want me to buy a $1,500 Avid device. Has anyone tried the Canopus on a PC? Are there any other options?

The 32 track limit on pro tools le sucks, I know that you cant use pro tools software without Digi hardware but...
-Can i get Logic, Cubase or digital performer to work with the 002 rack?
-Can i get a new software to work with the Digidesign core audio setup?

Hi all - just found the site so i thought id contribute.

Ive been dubbing for TV in the UK for the last 13 years on various AMS Audiofile systems.

Now, with a move to a new facility Im setting up Im taking a serious look at Pro Tools!

I have bought Pro Tools Mbox, and i have a problem.
Beforehand i had Creamware Luna board and i connected it with my Lexicon PCM80 via S/PDIF in-out, and it worked well!
The problem is that i can't send one signal via analog outputs, and the other via S/PDIF, so that i connect my Lexicon PCM80 with Mbox!

I'd like to hear pros and cons from folks using the new Logic 7 over PTHD. I'm considering running this setup, but I really want to know what I'm getting into first.

I should add that I'm a very experienced Logic user, so I don't need to know pros and cons about the program, just how it is in the day-to-day running over PTHD.
