I have a job that requires specific Mic requirements with cost factors. I have a decent Video Editing background, currently an AVID user, but VERY limited sound recording knowledge.
Any input as to what MICs I should look at getting or other forums I should post to for answers would be very appreciated.

Questions about Headroom / Levels
Wasn't sure where to post this since it's digital audio. But I'm wondering if there are any industry standards with regard to levels when recording.
I'm running a Mackie 1220 with Firewire interface and using the included Tracktion software on a Windows XP machine. My microphones (don't laugh) are a couple MXL's (the $100 combo pack).

Hardwood floors in tracking / mixing room?
Is this OK for recording and/or mixing? Wooden floors with bass traps in the corner and Auralex acoustic foam on some walls?
Thanks for any information.

My wife and I are about to buy a home. i've been doing the project studio thing for a few years. nothing ultra fancy, but some nice mixes.
We're about set on the home that we want to buy. So the question is: where does the studio go?

What acoustics and room design for Hip Hop vocals / spoken
OK, I'm recording Hip Hop vocals and haven't put too much thought into it intially, but do spoken word and hip hop vocalist have as much need for a "perfectly" acoustic vocal room as a singer does.
Room acoustics
Hi, I once heard of a guy how designed his room acoustics, in which all of the absOrban t material was in the ceiling, and one of the walls was covered with stone blocks for diffusion, I rehearsed there twice and it sounds great but i've never tried ir for recording, what do you guys think?

drums in a small room

Small deep bass monitors for room?
I can't play loud music outside where I live and I usually hang out in my Garage which is detached from the house. Soundproofing is not an option because of the way the Garage is built and it is a small 1-car garage [L16'xW10'x8'].

Hello. Currently have an ART TubePac-decent, but need more headroom. FMR RNP looks interesting. (and the price range) Any opinion, and or direction would help. Thank, Barefoot. (currently recording mostly Female Vox.)
