I just started a jazz music program at university and, as a singer, I'm required to buy a vocal mic. I don't have much experience with them and I want to make sure that I make a good choice.
Does anyone have a suggestion?

(I'm not sure yet how much I am willing to spend but I'm a student so times are fairly tight.)

we were looking for a deacent vocal microphone, and started to preform tests between some blue and studio projects microphones.

hi,there are a few good mics out there that i have tested in mic shops that sound nice such as the Sennheiser E935, E945 Audio-Technica AE6100, AE4100. but i have been wondering what vocal mic might be best for my applications. i have a clean melodic voice but i sing in melodic metal bands that tend to be very loud on stage and in the rehearsal rooms.

Ok I STILL can't figure out what I want (no way to test mics here in the middle of nowhere). I use a 414 uls through a 428 with a distressor as my vocal chain and it works pretty good. I want to step it up with a better mic as I have read the 414 is not really a superb vocal mic. I am looking at something from Geffell, because all I have read says their great.

I was wondering what is the best mic for a screaming vocalist to use? i would really like a condenser mic if possible though. .

I'm sure everyone's busy this time of year, but it's been rather dull lately reading the same two or three threads with little news to add... So, here's yet another topic about female vocal mic choices.

Yesterday I did some simple recording duties for a live act (10 people with 3xvoc, 2xgit, tp/as/tb, b, dr, el-perc). The place they played had the usual setup of microphones available (meaning for vocals a choice of SM58, SM58 or SM58).

I’m looking for a vocal mic for a metso-soprano singing folk music. I have a RODE NT2 and some AKG 1000s but none of them are giving me the sound I’m looking for. I’m looking for warm and liquid! What do you think of the Electro-Voice RE20? Any other suggestions?

I need to purchase a large condenser studio mic for vocal recording, and I need to do it on a budget. I know mic choice is very subjective, particularly for vocals, but I hope someone out there has some experience.

I'm looking for a new vocal mic in the $250 price range. It's going to be more for studio recording, but may occassionally be used live as well (if I can get away with it). I've been considering:

Shure Beta 87A

Opinions on those mics? Any others in the price range that I should be considering?
