I need advice on Micing drums with only two xlr's. I have the Tascam us122. One mic i want to be on the bass the other as and OH. What mic are good in these aspects? and won't break my pocket. The sound i'm trying to get is a mixture of rap and rock. help please.

I'd place one on the beater side of the kick positoned to get some snare as well, play around with the position until you get a sound you like. And then use the other as a single overhead. Thats how alot of the early Grateful Dead recordings were done. When Bear ran sound for the Dead he says he had 12 channels, 4 of which were needed to capture 2 drumsets. Each set got the setup as described above. And those live recordings he did back from 72 have some amazing clarity, depth, and punch.

If you could compress both mics a little, that would help. But almost any dynamic mic will get the job done.
THE most common "inexpensive" drum mic in studios is probably the Shure SM57. You can get them used for about $50 each. They are pretty good on guitar and vocals as well...
The amount of money you spend on equipment (mics, mic pre amps, and recorder) will be commensurate with your income. And once you start, it NEVER ENDS!!!
