Hi. I just purchased an interface that came bundled with Cubase LE. Is it possible to use this on more than one machine, with the same license? Or do I need to purchase another license?
Would like to use it on my laptop so I can go mobile if I need to.
Related question is, I have the Lexicon Alpha Interface. What do I need to do one the laptop to be able to use it there as well. Is it as simple as downloading/installing the drivers?
Thanks.

I would think it's probably allowed, in that you were given an LE version with the preamp - LE usually stands for "light" or "limited" edition ( some companies refer to this as an "Artist Edition" ) - which usually means that there are some features intentionally left out, which will vary depending on the manufacturer... basically, companies release an "LE" or "Artist" version as a way to entice you into buying the real version of their program. But as Kurt mentioned, the only way to really know is to try installing it. You won't hurt anything by doing so.

As far as which features will be missing, you'd probably have to visit Steinberg to do a comparison; at which point you would need to decide if the features missing would prohibit you from doing what you want to do.

I think I'd probably do this first, before I took the time to do an install. Personally, I like to know what a program can and can't do before I install it, (but that's just me).

The following is a comparison between Cubase 7.5 and Cubase Artist 7.5 - I don't know if Cubase LE and Cubase Artist are the same thing or not, but this might give you an idea of what you can and can't do:

I have a copy of cubase LE that came with an interface. I stuck it on my mac, as I have cubase 8 on my main system. I just tried to install it on my video editor to see what would happen and authorisation fails as it is already registered. Does this help? Looks like you cannot install it on two machines. On cubase 8, I have it in three computers and just move the dongle!
