On my linux box, besides the multitudes of old SB16 and SB32 cards I have laying around (my brother keeps finding old computers, and all of them have a sb16 in them), I use (at various times) a SB awe64, a SB 128, and my RMEdigi96 on my linux box.

The RMEsounds the best (duh!)
I use OSS commercial drivers. Less hassle, it seems.

I use a Delta 1010 that I'm "upgrading"... though you can only make a go-cart louder.

Before that I had a SB32 and an sblive or two, gave one away and another blew up in a strange spdif experiment.

I wonder if they ever released the effects program for the emu10k1? I remember the linux/audio/dev lists a long time ago were complaining about it.

Well Robotobon, you've got me all intrigued. What do you think of the Delta 1010, and why/with what are you modding it? I've been looking at one of these for the past couple of months, and the linux drivers available for it were definately a big plus in my mind. I'm very interested to hear what you think of it, as someone who has actually used it.
Thanks.

Hi Krom,

I'm busting up my Delta 1010 for 3 reasons: 1. it sucks ass in sound quality, 2. Midiman sucks more ass per capita than any other company, and 3. it will feel good and I may learn something new! :)

Did I mention I do NOT like Midiman?

Don't buy one. No one should. They shouldn't be allowed to sell the things.

For the record, I hate Midiman.

They don't have linux drivers, but ALSA/OSS has and they take credit for it. They haven't helped in the effort. The Delta 1010 merely uses the Envy24 chip that so many others use in their products. Hoontech, Terratec, Seasound, Sek'd...

Buy an RME. Buy an Aardvark (no linux yet?), buy a Pulsar (maybe linux), LynxOne, SuckBlaster even but don't support Midiman. Just say "NO" to industry wrecking companies.

I'm not sure I understand. Are you saying...you don't like Midiman? ;)
ha ha, just kidding, gotcha. I've been looking at the RME stuff too, guess I'll go down and try some out next week (haven't tried the Delta1010 out yet either, but if you feel that strongly about it I'll save myself the time; actual user opinions are always worth more than reviews).
Thanks for the info.

You can do alot better than Midiman, Motu, or Echo if you spend a little more.

The above companies all suck at everything imaginable. None should be in business.

Some may disagree, but I'll argue that some don't use their gear to it's fullest potential.

Delta drivers are the worst there are for Windows.

Oh, man. rme has great soundcards and converters!
I wish I could afford two of them right now- one for my win2k box, and one for the linux box.
I highly recommend rme. I don't know about the hammerfall ALSA drivers, because I have a digi96 PST, which only has OSS drivers for it. I don't care, tho. OSS seems to me to be less hassle.
