In Preferences> MIDI (is set as Oxygen 25) ..same in Fruity Loops
Problems:
1. When I arm to record. It records from the computer microphone (apparently), I hear the sounds from the room in the recording (my voice, and tapping).
2.A lot of times Im not getting any action from the ''meter thing that rise to indicate its getting sound [greeen, yello, red]'', Then suddenly I do..
3.What should the output be set as: Fruity Loops Soft Synth? Oxygen 25 Keyboard?
4. What should the MIDI input be set as: (Now it's on Auto Input and says:Auto All)

Yet you'd think although I need to upgrade some things soon, I could still do SOME work with what I have. I was simply trying to record notes I was playing on my Oxygen Keyboard (w/Fruity Loops as Soft Synth) onto a track on Acid, just to experience this DAW. I'd be satisfied with that for starters.

And I'm not saying that you can't. I'm saying that it sounds like you have an audio track armed to record somewhere along with the midi track.

If you are using your internal Microsoft sound mapper, or another similar driver for an on board pre-installed audio device that is assigned to that mic input (usually a small 1/8" stereo mini jack but sometimes a built in actual mic for things like Skype and Gaming) and you have a track armed to record audio, then yeah, you're gonna get whatever that mic picks up.
What I don't understand is why you'd be recording any audio unless you had an audio track armed to record. If you are simply recording a midi track, there are no audio inputs involved.
Are you positive that you don't have an audio track in your program armed to record along with your midi track?
FWIW, that audio input that is built into your computer is very low budget and will not produce professional results. My guess is that part of why you are seeing intermittent signal and then no signal is because the drivers to that built in audio card aren't supported by the program you are using in conjunction with it. Freeze ups, glitches, stops/starts and intermittent audio are all very common with those cheap built in audio devices.
If you want to record audio, and do it right, then you should look into a dedicated USB audio I/O.
Prices on them range from $80 to $8000. Pick your poison accordingly.
Also, many programs had trouble using Vista as the OS. Problems are common in multi media production using Vista as the OS platform.
