I'm getting a laptop for running Logic Audio, with either a MOTU or RME interface. I'll mainly be using it for (hopefully) lots of EXS24s plus other virtual instruments and only a few (

I can get a 600MHz iBook for much less money than a 550Mhz Powerbook. Both have 100MHz system buses and PC100 memory. What advantages would the Powerbook (G4) have over the iBook (G3) ? Also, Is there much advantage to the 133MHz Powerbook (a lot more money)

the i book you are looking at has a G3 processer while the power book has a G4 processer.i believe the difference between the G# and the G4 has to do with bit processing the G3 while in my mind makes for a good machine with a 128 bit processing engine the G4 utilizes a 256mhz bit processing engine.i use both a G3 power book and a G4 dedicated DAW. other than the huge difference in display size and the f

the i book you are looking at has a G3 processer while the power book has a G4 processer.i believe the difference between the G3 and the G4 has to do with bit processing the G3 while in my mind makes for a good machine with a 128 bit processing engine the G4 utilizes a 256mhz bit processing engine.i use both a G3 power book and a G4 dedicated DAW. other than the huge difference in display size and the fact that the G4 has more processing power(speed?)than the G3 I think in the long run you will probly be much more satisfied with the G4,even if it is a little bit slower then the i book in clock speed it has more processing power and when working with audio power is some times more important than "speed".further more with the new processer releases that happened about a month ago the first generation of G4 power books (400&500 mhz)has just come down considerably and might be worth looking at.
good luck,I hope I helped and didnt hurt. ;)
