Go with the SM57 with an additional foam pop filter. They won't overload that. You may also need to engage your microphone preamplifiers pad switch, for further overload protection? Pipe the screamers microphone into a limiter, from your insert, before you track. You will be glad you did.

in my recording there is alot of bass during the parts where the guitars are palm muting like alot of rattling after they play the notes in like breakdowns and stuff. any suggestions for that

well, on guitar i wouldnt have the mic on the edge of the cone. lately, when im just using an sm57 on guitar i have the mic at a 45 degree angle aimed at the center of the cone or the just of the center.

Or if they have to much bass, aim it at the center straight on but if they are cutting the mids out on their amps, i say you're pretty much screwed and you'll get fuzz guitar. unless of course they let you mess around with their settings....
