Similar to Boswell, if you do not need an interface a great piece to add eight mic pres via ADAT is the 800R. However, the Digimax FS is a very close second. It does not have the connectivity of the Onyx, however the mic pres are just as good quality, if not opinned better because of their distinct quality compared to the Mackie. That is, some may like the character of the FS better than the Onyx.
If one is not recording at 192k, I do not see why one should rule out the Digimax FS.
If you don't need a FireWire interface, I prefer the Mackie 800R
If you don't need a FireWire interface, I prefer the Mackie 800R to any of the ones you mention for sound quality. I would also consider waiting for the Mackie 1200F - next price bracket up, perhaps, but 12 channels and full-featured.
