hello all

i am in the middle of mixing an album for a band, i received their files yesterday, and i'm starting on the third song today (out of 12)
i have a problem: the audio in the Logic-songs is recorded at a samplerate of 96kHz. my computer (which isn't the slowest/oldest; a G5 dual 1.8) isn't too happy, and i keep having to freeze tracks and muting stuff, in order to keep it from stopping playback because of cpu overload.
the buffer is already set at its max, ive optimized everything, so my best bet would be to cut it down to 44.1khz

anyone know of a quick way to convert a logicsong (including all the audiofiles) from 96 to 44.1?
i've tried converting them with Pro Tools, and then replacing the original 96-ones, with the 44-ones. i've placed the 96 ones in the trash, so that logic shouldnt be able to find them, and put the 44-ones in the old location. but logic keeps looking until it finds the exact same ones, so it just changes its file-reference to the trash. i dont want to delete the originals, just in case something goes wrong.

PLEASE IM TOTALLY STUCK, and i have to finish this 12 song album by the end of the week. SOMEONE know a quick solution to all this nerdy computerstuff?

thanks in advance.
I'm hanging in here

i still havent found a solution. i might try the backing up on the CD thing today.
mixing in protools is just not an option since i have to get this done fast and im not fast enough in protools. plugs dont work great there and all.
anyway, still need a solution, in the meanwhile ive been mixing in 96khz but its a pain in the ass, it keeps stopping playback after every 15 seconds or so, and every action has a delay of about half a second. so thats not really the ideal working situation here.

ANYONE have any other ideas?!
thanks for the replies so far!

by the way the manual isnt of much use here either.

ive tried mixing in protools, but the problem is, the regions are all placed at different positions in logic (you know, grid, tempo related stuff) and i cant figure out how to copy that into a protools session

anyway. im gonna try the backingup thing
