Hello, my fellow musicians!

I am about to expose a great deal of my newbieness and ask for assistance regarding my home studio's wiring & routing.

Here's my equipment:

  •
  • - PC (amd athlon +5600 X2; 2 Gb RAM DDR2 @ 800 mhz, SATA, etc)
  • - Pro-tools M-Powered 7.3.1
  • - M-Audio Firewire 1814
  • - MOTU midi express XT
  • - Yamaha 01v96v2
  • - Akai MPC-4000 Plus
  • - Kurzweil PC2x
  • - Boss GT-PRO

I, usually, connect the Korg , kurzweil, boss and Yamaha stuff to my akai and I sync everything from there. Works great for jamming live with my band. In fact even the M-Audio synced perfectly to all of this thanks to the Akai

The problems started when I tried setting up a studio and sync everything using the MPC-4000. Either Pro-tools or the MOTU midi Express XT don't like the MPC or something is wrong... I couldn't generate the metronome with the akai, transmitting to the Triton rack, nor pro-tools could. I got very irregular/intermittent clicks and sloppy transport movement on Pro-Tools.

I tried syncing everything with Pro-tools as lord/master of the universe... and it doesn't work either.

You guys can check out a screen shot of my setup at: http://introbella.com/downloads/fotos/studio_diagram.png

Can somebody help me out with the setup? I want be able to control the BPM from the MPC-4000 and have it serve as master sync. If this is not recommended, then, please, make suggestions!

Another cool thing would be pointers to some {studio,midi}-setup-howtos!
