My only weak link left in my studio is my DDA-console which is not bad but not compareable to high-end consoles either. The rest of my gear is up there. I use my studio only for my own productions and I've made the recording chain a priority 'coz i mix in larger facilities. Now that I have nice outboard, converters and good monitoring the only thing I lack for mixing is a great sounding console. I think I found the ultimate solution for me. I need 16 to 24 channels, a couple of sends and a mixbus ready for rock&roll.

It would consist of an API 7800 Master/summing module, two or three API 8200 line mixers and a rack of 12 Neve1073 eq-clones. I have a couple of 1073 eq's already so that's all I need. The 1073 clones fit in a 3 unit rack (check them out at http://www.vintagedesign.se under "customshop") so this would be an all discrete, very high quality 24-channel mixer with 12 eq's in 6 units of rackspace ! It would obviously sound fantastic at an affordable price. What do you think, is it too good to be true ?

Hey guys, question for ya. I'm kinda new to how the API stuff can be mixed and matched and all. I was wondering, with the 8200 can that be used as a mic amp or would you need something like the 3124+ as well? I've just been wanting to get some API pre's on the way into the box and wasn't shure if the 8200 or 3124+ would be better thankx.
