i am considering buying a new interface my budget is 400$ i am looking at the Tascam US-1641 or the Tascam us-1800 i have read negative things about both but they are in my price range so i just need to know which is more stable or if there is another choice for the $ range i need at least 8 channels

I believe the negative things you have read are due to user/setu
I believe the negative things you have read are due to user/setup error. I have nothing but perfect performance from my 1641. 1641 and 1800 are the exact same except for power supply and appearance. Oh and price. 1641 has been discontinued.
