Hello! I have just been given (?) a Windows Audiomedia III PT set up that I want to try in the one remaining PCI slot of my Dell.
I know there are issues with certain mobo's and chip sets. Where do I look to determine what my mobo/chip set is? Do I open the box and look? Is it in the bios?

Actually...without having to go to any computer site..here's what you can do to find out this information(without having to open the systemup as well!!)
When you first boot your system up there is a wonderful black screen that tells you what Bios and what motherboard you have...pay attention as it does go by fast sometimes!!
To find out what chipset you have go to the device manager and look at the USB controller..that will tell you whether you have a Via, an Intel, an Ali or Sis..
Or...you can go to the Start Menu..Programs..Accessories..System Tools...System Information!!

Usually if you put your model number into the support data base at the Dell Tech support website area, it will give you the specs of the motherboard. I know that HP is giving this info out. You may just have to call Dell for it.
If it were me, I would just plug it into PC slot3 and go for it. That is the only way to really tell. You could also start a thread on the http://www.digidesign.com forum with your model number and someone should be able to help you out.
