I'm looking for info on mixing for film

I'm working with a tight group of film makers, all local, but a very dedicated bunch. I have been searching everywhere for info on mixing dialogue, foley, and music and happened upon the -20DBFS pink noise to 85 RMS mix standard. For anyone familiar with this, I think I get it, yet I wonder if I really do.

New Song - Mix Feedback (Rust On a Statue)

I've been mixing this song for quite a while now and I'm not a professional mixing engineer (which you probably can tell from the sound of the mix) But I would really really be greatful if I could get some feedback on how I can make the mix sound better, anything would be very appreciated

Here's a download link to the mix, the song is called "Rust On a Statue"

Slate Platinum Drums Review ( Early Impressions)

I picked up Slate's Platinum 4.0 Drums Collection late last week; I've only had a few days to work with it, so these are early impressions. So far, I am pleased with the program all the way around. Further and more intensive use may bring certain weak points to the surface, I can't say as of this writing, but my initial impressions are positive.

When is recording at 192 kHz necessary?

What sample rates are people using to record? I want to use more than 44.1, probably 96 kHz. What is the audible difference between 96 and 192, and when, if, is 192 kHz recording necessary?

Later I will be recording audio for video and if 48 is standard for dvds, should I keep it there for syncing purposes? Will there be any advantage to recording at the higher rates for video?
