here's my situation - I've got a new DAW running Windows 2000 Professional on the OS drive (haven't added an audio drive yet). I want to install my old SCSI audio drive from my previous system, but that old system was running Windows 98 SE.

I have a small digital audio workstation (a Zoom MRS 1044) that I use for recording my acoustic pop songs for demos. I presently use stage mikes (Shure 57/58) and a cheap Sony electret condenser. I actually get a decent sound, but I'm thinking I could improve by getting an inexpensive condenser mike (under $150--after all, the rest of my system's pretty modest).

I recently upgraded from 98SE to XP Pro. My Software is the same as w/98SE( with exception of SX); Reaktor, Reason, Recycle, VST 5.1, CE 2000. Hardware is same w/ exception of UAD-1( Installed post-XP); Delta 66, MMan 2x2, all with latest downloaded drivers.

I heard this term once awhile, "upward compression". can someone explain and how to do it

I just assembled a DAW and I was going for the Roland Studio Package Pro but I just saw a deal where I can get the Steinberg Houston Controller and a copy of Cubase SX for $1299. Does anyone have any experiance with the Houstion Controller? Is this a good deal? or will I just be paying $1299 for Cubase SX if the controller is crap.
