Got the Fabfilter 30 day try and like it but noticed something weird today and not sure why due to limited production experience.

I will be making a soundtrack eventually for a friend of mines novel and hope to connect with a few people to help me a little with the mixing processes. I have recorded and made mixes that sound good to me but I wasn't taking the mixing/mastering process seriously.

Bass is like love. Some like-em full figured, some like-em slI'm and bossy. Some like-em noticed but covered up just enough to leave it to our imagination.

I have a pair of Alesis Monitor Ones (passive) and even though the brand name appears upright while on their sides, Alesis actually recommends that for optimum results, the speaker cabinets should be placed upright - with the tweet on top, centered directly over the woof.

When you're mixing, when do you guys start panning? In other words, at what point in the mixing process do you turn your focus onto creating a good spatial landscape?
