PC Optimizing?

I know in the past you've posted some PC Optimizing tips. This may sound like a dumb question. But is it different to optimize depending on the sound card one uses?

It seems some of the tips I've heard from others are focused on a specific software programs or soundcards. So does the Optimizing you recommend work for all music recording purposes?

Step 2: If the song sucks, the mix is irrelevant

"But Mixerman! How could you say this? A song being good or bad is completely subjective!"

Well, not completely. There ARE certain proven elements to a great song. But I'm not going to go into that right now. This step is about the listener. If the listener hates the song, the mix is irelevant. A mix can only bring a song to its fullest potential.

How do you use logic, if you do it at all - as sequencer or more as tape-machine style recording tool? Or is logic just sitting in your studio to offer compatibility?

Maybe, it's a North-American phenomenom, but there's logic-users all around the world but not in Nashville? ;)
