PC Optimizing?
I know in the past you've posted some PC Optimizing tips. This may sound like a dumb question. But is it different to optimize depending on the sound card one uses?
It seems some of the tips I've heard from others are focused on a specific software programs or soundcards. So does the Optimizing you recommend work for all music recording purposes?

Anyone have an opinion on Soundscape Ibox 8 AD/DA?
These are the 20 bit unbalanced ones, how would you compare them to the 16 bit Tascam DA-38 converters ?

Breaking the mold
Ok. as many of you have learned.. my primary function is mastering.
Now through this long and eventful career. I have done just about all of it. FOH, Voice production/punches, huge live mixes (75+channels), huge studio mixes (90+channels)...worked in the 70's/80's/90's...00's too.
Now...here is the point:

Step 2: If the song sucks, the mix is irrelevant
"But Mixerman! How could you say this? A song being good or bad is completely subjective!"
Well, not completely. There ARE certain proven elements to a great song. But I'm not going to go into that right now. This step is about the listener. If the listener hates the song, the mix is irelevant. A mix can only bring a song to its fullest potential.

Hello_o anybody out there?
Is this Cubaseland, or Pro Tools only? (Doesn't seem to be, if I look at the other forums)
How do you use logic, if you do it at all - as sequencer or more as tape-machine style recording tool? Or is logic just sitting in your studio to offer compatibility?
Maybe, it's a North-American phenomenom, but there's logic-users all around the world but not in Nashville? ;)

installing a second hard drive
I'm just getting started with my switch over to pc recording and I would like to add a second hard drive to my pc to used for music. I have a P111 with 256 megs of ram. The hard drive I have now is a Quantum Fireball 20.4 gig but it's 5400 and I've been finding out that my system seems to be a little shakey when working in Vegas and adding plugins.
