Consumer Rights...
It seems more and more the phrase "The customer is always right" is being replaced by "Consumer be damned." Companies are no longer trying to think of things they can do to improve the customer's experience. Instead they are trying to think of things they can get away with. And we sit idly by, taking our rights for granted.

mLan
mLan - the future of MIDI & Audio interfacing?
The 3 pin DIN serial cabling of MIDI has been around for 20 or so years, while other interfacings have come and gone. About two years ago there was rumblings of a newer, faster implementation for MIDI and Audio within the same cabling called - mLan.

AMEK "Channel in a Box"
Anyone had a hands on with this unit? Fletcher, your comments on the 9098i where so complimentary, I wonder how much this supposedly "identical" front end to that board has much to do with the overall flavor you so appreciated? Was it the boards inputs you used, or where you using a different front end on the sessions you had? Thanks Paul

AES-31 Plug and Play
Hi,
Good news for the audio world. We are creating a native AES-31/ broadcast wave mode for RADAR 24. This will make Plug and Play a reality with other recorders and DAW's that embrace the format.

Where are the Steps?
Last I recall, Mixerman promised to elaborate on his patented 10-step mixology program. I believe that only Step 1 has been presented. Mixerman--what gives? Please cease and desist from all work for your paying clients and resume the program!

cleaning an sv-3800 DAT
I'm on a live project that came in on DAT. And my low hour SV-3800 seems to need its first cleaning. A light on the display occasionally flashes "cleaning". I've nevr had to clean it before. Any guidelines I need to follow, I've never done it on a DAT before. What is the procedure? Thanks
Bill

Punchdown vs. . Solder
What are your opinions on Punchdown vs Solder in patchbays? Do you feel or hear a difference? Is it worth the time to solder?
I'm considering an Audio Accesories TT bay. I can choose between unwired, adc style punchdown, and wrapped terminal. The people there were very patient and friendly and their prices were fair.
