Hello All,
I'm nearing completion of a three to four song demo for submission to an independent label. Naturally, I want my band's music to be taken seriously so I'm prepared to have it mastered by an experienced professional.

I'm currently in the process of tracking and mixing a 7 song CD. But when I'm done with it, I'm not sure if I should master it myself, or spend the extra money to send it off and have a real pro master it.

So here's a mastering job I did of one of my peliminary mixes. I guess my basic question is how much better would it sound if it was done by real mastering engineer?

I think we need to start a group project or two. Something that we all can learn from and won't take all of our time. I'm open for suggestions. Now this can be anything from tests, measurements, whatever. We also have to take into account that people are all over. If files need to be transfered, I have a server that can handle it unless it gets crazy.

I'm down to the mastering portion of my latest project (9 song rawk album, lotsa OD'd Les Pauls thru Marshalls, you get the idea).

In the past I have only used my T-Racks mastering software to bump up the overall volume, make things sound a little bit bigger etc..

i am in first year music production at university and I'm doing a heavily weighted research assignment on the studio recording of Muse's new album Ablsolution which i myself think is a fairly kick ass album. does anyone know of any good sites concerning the recording and production techniques of this album. thanks

I was wondering what Noise Reduction system (software or hardware) mastering facilities are using ? Also, if it is hardware, where exactely in the chain it is placed ?

I was not sure if this was the proper forum for this, but I couldn't find one that seemed more appropriate.

I am working on a serious audio restoration project, trying to clean up poorly recorded speech in audio tapes from 30 years ago. The quality is very poor, but the tapes have signifigent historical value.
