Duplication
I wasn't quite sure where this should go, but I assume that some of you guys do duplication in your studios. I've been looking at CD/DVD duplicators, printers, and automated publishers for a few weeks. I'm considering building my own tower, as I don't care to spend $1500-$2000 for something that I can build for $500.
My question is this...

mp3 to wav to CD - and no music
Hi,
I just took a bunch of mp3 files, passed them through a freeware mp3-to-wav converter and burned them to CD, hoping to be able to play them on a CD player.
I used a Maxell CD-R music 80min/700mb. The default setting for transfer rate was "maximum" and that's how I left it.

DC OFFSET time for a little education.
Hi,
Could someone explain what DC Offset is? I only have a vague idea of what it is. Been stuck trying to explain what it was to someone who had trouble with it the other day and... well, I couldn't...
I did a search on RO, but did not find anything satisfying enough.
Thank you!

Noob to forum: Advice on Mastering hip hop For vinyl
Greetings,
I've done my research and i've sat in on other mastering engineers as they've mastered for CD, then applied different settings for wax.
What i need to know is, how much (db) limiting can i use on the mix before it will prove troublesome for the cutting process?
Being hip hop , all the spikes are kicks and snares.
What causes major Narrow Frequency spikes?
I am reviewing a v/o track I recorded. I have a high-pass/ low-pass filter set on an external parametric eq at 80hz/11000hz. Bandwidth is set to 'shelf'.

mastering
Hey
I recieved my TL Audio 5052 stereo valve proccessor, I originally bought it to better and broaden my preamp selection but through some resellers they are pitching the unit as a mastering device.
As a preamp, wow! It's the first time I'am working hard to keep the ingrediants from getting too wide.

Mastering House for Vinyl - Classical Music
Good day gentlemen,
I am currently looking for a good mastering house, preferably in Europe, to master classical recordings for vinyl. Are some of you guys in this business, and if not, could you name respectable places for this job?
Best,
Thomas
