Peluso CEMC6 or RODE NT5? Purchase Advice
hi all, i'm in the market for a pair of small diapragm mics, i'm wondering if anyone has advice regarding RODE NT5 vs Peluso CEMC6. This will be my first pair of SDC's, so they need to be pretty versatile. Mainly acoustic guitar and drum overheads/room.

mic test samples
In my audio engineering class my professor has done mic tests with different mics on the same sound source. This gave us a great understanding of what mics do what and sound better for various desired results. I understand everything goes by preference, but how should I really know which mic is best for myself without really hearing it compared to others of the same style?

Suggestions for Mics to get
I'm looking to spend up to $1300 and am in desperate need of some new mics. I don't have much now, but have the purpose of slowly building up my studio as funds permit. I would like to get at least 2 microphones with the $1300, but would be open to any food for thought :) I've been looking at stuff like Neumann TLM 103, AKG C414 B-XLS, RODE K2, NT4 and NT5s, Beyer M 130 & M 160.

Ideas for a mic/pre
Ok, when I get my studio remodel finished this winter or spring, I need to buy one good solid channel for recording. Of course I'd really like to have more but I want to start with something really good. A magic bullet if you will. I am thinking of a UA 6176 or Vintech X73 and an additional compressor.

Reguarding Mics and phase/polarity
When you're double Micing say a kick drum or an acoustic guitar or something like that using two different types of mics on the same source(beta 58, at2020 instrument mic), do you absolutely need to set them out of phase with each other? Is that usually reserved for when you're using two of the same mics?
Im trying to read about this in 'modern recording techniques' but Im lost

Tube Mic Newbie
I have been recording in my home for the past 3 years, and I have accumulated a pretty good list of gear. The sound I am getting currently, I am pretty statisifed with, however I feel as if I could be getting more from the vocals. I just wanted some suggestions into the world of tubed mics.

USB Mic into 1010LT/Pro Tools 7.3 M-Powered
I hope someone can help. I have a T.Bone 440 USB mic and I have tried everything to get it recognised in Pro Tools with a 1010LT card to no avail. I have tried ASIO4ALL which seemed to add it as an input, but I still couldn't see it in Pro Tools. It does sound very good for the money when used in a windows recording app, but I'd really like to use it as a direct input in Pro Tools.

Cheapish mic for recording didge?
Hi there,
I was just wandering what a good mic would be for didgeridoo recording?
It needs to have crystal, almost shrill highs for the screeches.
I have been using an SM57 so far which isn't bad but it doesn't really have the bite that I need; too round sounding.
Budget of around £150, under if possible.
Thanks.

Darker smooth mic for female voice
What mic would you recommend for recording female vocals? I already have a RODE NT-1a which I've found a little harsh, brittle and siblant with certain female vocalists.
One mic I'm seriously considering is the MXL V67g. Would this be a good choice?
