MICROPHONE FOR LOCATION RECORDING OF SYMPHONY ORCHESTRAS?
Greetings! I am a professional conductor who wants to get decent recordings of the orchestras I conduct when travelling. I had an Audio-Technica AT822 and a Sony DAT walkman, which did pretty well. I have replaced the SONY with a Korg MR1 and the microphone, unfortunately, was lost during travels.
Frequencies and Mic Placement
Hey everybody, my name is Nick and I'm an aspiring drummer and recording engineer/producer.
I'm going to be recording some drum tracks soon and I have been told that if mics are placed incorrectly then the frequencies will cancel each other out and effect the sound you are getting. What are the guidelines you guys follow as far as mic placement goes.

Mic choices for piano, harpsichord
I'm putting together a simple, entry-level system - not intended to make production quality CD's but to learn the basics, etc. I 'll be using the Alesis IO26 as the audio interface and pre-amp. My interests lie with classical music (piano, harpsichord, small groups). I'm looking for a suitable pair of mics (in the $250 per mic range). Currently, my plan is the RODE NT1-A.

Strange mic problem. Please help.
hello everybody :D
I've been recording with my Sennheiser e835,pluged in the PC since 2 years, but now I have some problems. Since my PC mainboard etc. were exchanged i can't hear my voice with the mic. I can't record,i can't hear myself...nothing. The soundcard is new and i think it's OK. Everything is plugged in right and the volume control is configured as usual.

different mic choice on steel vs. . nylon strung guitar ?
Hi all,
I'm not a complete newbie on recording, but I don't have any knowledge on mic choice/placement when it comes to the difference (is there?) between a nylon and a steel strung guitar.
Normally there's only 1 acoustic guitar I have to deal with at a time. Mostly I prefer a Beyer M260. Or MD421-II in live situations.
How do you sound test different mics without buying them
if i wanted to test a bunch of microphones e.g. on an acoustic guitar or someones vocal, how would i do that without buying one?
ive just got an sm57 right now but say i found a new singer and that didnt suit her style how would i know which mic would be the best for her without buying a bunch.
Josephson e22s Microphones
I have a couple of Josephson e22s mikes coming in soon to try out and was wondering if anyone had any experiences, opinions they would like to share about them. Going to be trying them on drums, piano and acoustic guitar.

What do you do? Micing guitar and singing at the same time.
Hey everyone, I often times have a lot of trouble singing if I am not playing my guitar at the same time. There are a lot more fluctuations and screw ups when I am just singing along to the music. Do you guys often record an acoustic artist while he both sings and plays at the same time? If so then I will go out and buy another mic.
