Whichmic and pre combination would you use?
I'm tracking 8 tracks of drums (well 6 cause I don't have the tom mics yet) I'm tracking to HD.
This is what I have for drums:

Pres
8- Neve 1073
2- Neve 1081
2- Avalon 737sp
2- API 512c

Besides supporting high sampling rates(96 to 192), does the Model Two sound "different" than Model One? I had used Model One for mastering in HDCD format. Wondering how much "better" or "different" is the Model Two.

Anyone had experience in Model Two? Is this popular in US or Europe?

I have to rent some mics to mic up a drum kit. I would like 2 room mics, 2 overheads, 2 snare, 2 bass drum, tom and hat mics. I have an AT 4050 some 57's and a D112 already. I would love some recommendations on some mics I can rent to fufill my needs. Hopefully nothing to esoteric or hard to get as I have to find these hopefully fairly cheap. Opinions on Neumann km 184's or SM 81's?

The idea that a plugin can turn an sm58 into a u47 seems completely implausible. Any thoughts? Cheers, Doc

7 Years ago I decided to get a paying job instead of pursuing the passion of music recording and production. I figured that I would eventually start building a personal studio and fulfill my desire as a hobby.

I am wanting to get my first "nice" vocal condensor. And, it is really between these two mics at this point.

I have heard some great things done with the NTK, and I would have no hesitation on buying it.

I've used a few different mics for tracking Sax. I'm wondering if I missed the best one ?

I am researching budget-priced (under $200) condenser microphones for recording vocals. I am looking at the Oktava MK012 and MK219, Behringer B1 and B2, and the Global Audio GXL2200. Has anyone used these specific models? What type of results can I expect with this class of mic? Also, are there any great internet resources for researching microphone performance?
