Which all software needed for creating a complete track?

Hi all!

I am a wannabe music composer. I plan to do all my songs using PC. I plan to get a M-Audio Audiophile 2496 soundcard and a Sennheiser HD280 Pro headphones. Later, I would get a M-Audio Oxygen 8 MIDI controller.

(Btw., please tell me which mic is good for male vocal recording: Shure SM-57? Anything cheaper than that?)

ixing in Cubase LE

Does anyone know anything about mixing facilities in Cubase LE? Specificaly setting up multiple stereo mixes in the same way some analog desks use groups; ie assigning tracks to stereo channels with compression,eq, etc applied to the stereo group rather than individual tracks as well being able have the unprossessed group in the mix for sidechaining drums etc.

Favorite gear: for hip hop/electronic production

This is an honest post intended to give people a searchable resource. Most searches on this topic bring up non-gear related arguments on whether or not hip hop is music, or cynical posts that tell people "it doesn't matter what gear you use for hip hop". So this is a post for those who want to talk about gear used successfully in hip hop / electronic music production.

Telefunken R-F-T M16 Tube

Has anyone heard of this? I think it is a spin-off from the work Telefunken USA are doing resurrecting old superstars of the mic. world. Still, with an RRP of $1,300 in the United States it's hard to believe they can offer the impossible. Maybe this is designed to go up against the Soundelux e250 at a much lower price?

Has anyone tried the new Telefunkens?

What the heck

I'm posting this here because I see this happening here.

I know I'm new and all, but one thing I've noticed already is that as soon as someone asks about rap music, the reply might as well be "Rap isn't music, get a gold plated bucket and some string to record it"
