Really cool rackmounts with "lid tables."
Forums
I've been seeing a few rackmount systems with lid tables. I saw one where the lid had 2 sets of legs and was a standalone table, and the other one had one set of legs and the table attached to the case at the other end. That is purely genius. I think the 2nd one is Anvils M.I.C.S system or somethimg, I dont know.

mixing to -6db (optimal approach?)
Forums
Ever since I started recording, I've recorded tracks to peak at -6db or so.
When everything's mixed the way I like, I wind up with a master bus that's peaking at, say... -3 to -6db or so.
I know a lot of guys say you should have a master bus peaking much lower than this (for mastering purposes).

Thanks for the Thorax
Forums
Had about an hour to finally get things hooked up and play through the Thorax. Haven't played the bass or vox through it yet but I played guitar through it clean and with a vintage rat driving it.
The sweetest fuzz tones I've ever heard. No square wave harsh - just the feeling of the most kick-ass sweater enveloping you.

SPL Transient Designer
Forums
So it's great for drums. Can it control the dynamic range for vocals? like a peak limiter. I know its not a compressor/ limiter, but can it simulate one? I've nevere used it before.

Studio Set Up
Forums
Hi there, I've been giving a proejct to work on. This is imaginary scenario for college. I have a good idea what to already do for this, but would appreciate peoples advice to help fill in the cracks so to speak.
I've been giving €100,000 to put together a studio for both recording and mixing of pre-production work.
