"tick" sound

At school we have a digital recording studio. We have a Behringer digital desk, which goes to a Digidesign ADAT converter (not sure what the proper name for it is), which then goes to the computer. Between the desk and the digidesign, we use optical cables. When we are doing a recording, we get a "tick" sound at regular intevals. Does anyone know what is causing this?

Question about Studio Monitors

I am lookin' at buying a studio bundle and in them comes the M-Audio BX5a 70 Watt Active Studio Monitors.

(Dead Link Removed)

I'd like to know if any of you have used these monitors or any of the other equipment in this package and what your thoughts were on them?

Is the package a good deal? Everything looks clean and sound and is definatley a step up from Cool Edit.

using talking audio in music (sample related)

i've got this song i'm doing that i'd like to use talking in. like, people that have said things in the media. since this is just speech that has been transferred to the public for the sake of news, does this audio still need to be licensed? i'm guessing it does, since it was still captured by specific organizations. would i legally approach this the same way i would for regular music samples?

Best way to record electric guitar?

Hi All, I want to record my electric guitar onto computer and I was wondering what the best way to do it is. What are peoples thoughts on devices like the M Audio Black Box or Boss Micro BR? I would also like to add realistic drum tracks to my music, is the best way to do this via keyboard? I am told I can tap out the rhythms this way rather than do it mechanically using the mouse.
