is the timing as good as the Proteus X being that it has no dsp help?

I know absolutley nothing about recording, but I would like to start interviewing family members to begin an oral history project. I would like a microphone and recording device that would give nice sound like I hear on NPR interviews.

i have a jackson and it seems that when i put the cord in. it is very sensitive like a slight tap would make a cracke noise what should i do

Whats the best way of removing electrical hums in the studio?

A couple of things I have noticed in mine lately is a hiss from one of my preamps in the Foldback/headphone channel

and i also have 2 channels coming off the back of my computer (soundcard) to the desk.. there is unwanted noise there too..

Any ideas?

i am planning on building my own studio in the future (just for local bands/demos)...its actually just for fun for myslef (i have a day job!)

Any tips on mic placement etc. please for recording bowed strings (folk fiddles, cello) with Crown GLM subminiature mics? Reason is I've got a some GLM-100s and a 200 for gigs, and I read that the Turtle Island String Quartet recorded their 1st CD using GLM's. For gigs I wedge the pop shield between the strings back of the bridge or velcro them to the bottom of the tailpiece.

Hey now. Can the mute button be automated? Or can i use it during a bounce to mute one track?

So I'm taking the plunge and I'm going to build my own snake and mic cable using some bulk Mogami cable. Can anyone point me in the direction of a good "how to" site on building this type of cable. I'm not sure how much solder to use, or if there is a special solder, etc. Any help would be great!

I have these two choices of buying Audiophile 2496 or Creative Audigy 2 Platinum Pro(External)...but i dont know which one would be better for recording and making music on my computer. i live in canada, and the price of audiophile is $125, and the price for the creative one is $199 or so. but u get soo much stuff with the creative one(external unit,card and remote control).

I just bought me some nice studio monitors and an ART amp. Now I need some quality speaker cable and 2 1/4" cords to hook the amp up to my digi002 rack...but, I'm not a pro when it comes to knowing the best brand or kind.
