Habitual EQ Knob Twister Needs Advice...

Since moving to mixing in my DAW flavor of the day (currently DP but my soon to accomplish os X port might change my choice) I find myself missing the old days of closing my eyes and EQ'ing with my ears not my eyes. Paragraphic EQ's can be a wonderful ancellary visual tool but a dangerous distraction as well.

My holiday goodies have arrived!

I am a budding recording enthusiast with a relatively small collection of toys, er... I mean gear. I have no Sonadores, Brauners, DPAs, Josephsons, Schoeps, Gordons, DW Fearns,... you get the drift.

However, in my modest 'bang for the buck' world things are improving. I have sold a couple of things and purchased my first pair of omnis - Avenson STO2s. Has anyone here tried them?

Suggestions Welcome (Small Home Studio)

Recently I have decided to make an attempt at coming up with enough equipment to run a small home studio. As of now I am on a fairly tight budget. I currently have several mics and all the computer/I/O hardware that I need. As for mics I have several sm57s, a d112, a pair of AKGC1000s and a Blue Dragonfly. I need suggestions on what I should do for preamps .

Recording Wind Quintet

Hi all;

This time I'm the one looking for ideas and mic suggestions from anyone and all, regarding mic choices, experience, etc. I have my own ideas, but i'd welcome any one else's thoughts as well.

This will be a studio recording, no audience. The space is a trapezoidal room, roughly 20x40, 8' ceiling at one end, rising to 10' at the far end, hardwood floor.
