Im looking for a decent desk/workstation for my basement "studio". Anyone have any links to some places that sell workstations with rack mounts and monitor stands? I've looked at sweetwater and musicians fiend(no misspelling there.) and want more to choose from. WHo knows, I may just build one my self.

Im new to this analog reel-to-reel stuff. I found out that machines use different type of tape sizes. Why is this ? higher fidelity ? More tracks ? Thanks for the help.

I need these three devices to chase the same clock source. I want the main clock source to be from the Rosetta. I will be recording 2 Channels from the Rosetta Via S/PDIF and 8 Channels from the Octane Via ADAT.

-The Rosetta has WC out, ADAT out, and S/PDIF out.

-The Octane has WC in & out, and ADAT out.

Hi. I have a pair of Yamaha s8m studio monitors. Does anyone have an opinion or information on these speakers. I have them hooked up in my stereo at home. I was wondering how they would sound in the studio. Thanks

I use Cakewalk music creator 2003. When i try to record something, i can hear it through my computer speakers but it is delayed. When i try to record another track, it isn't on time because of the delay. I tried changing the latancy on the options audio, but when i record, it stops recording after about three seconds or so. It says drop out. If anyone can help me please do.

Its my twenty first birthday on thursday :D and my dad has surprisingly agreed to give me two thousand dollars towards my goal of getting a little recording setup going. I've already got mics, my drumset has a new high hat and symbols, I've got a good midi keyboard, but I've got to buy a new computer, mixer, monitors, compressor, etc.

Has anyone heard of or had any experience with the RME Fireface 800? Last year, just as I was narrowing the gear list down of what to finally buy, I decided I'd wait a while and see what other systems/solutions developed. I've hardly been online in the past year to keep up with the latest innovations. I did feel somewhat trapped with PTLE and needing to continue down that road.

Okay, I'll try to keep it simple. This is sort of a "music business" questions but I wanted to reach a wider audience.

What do you think about this mixer? Is it worth its money? Are the features ok? Like hows the preamp? And the DI? And whats with this FireWire option?
