Basic Recording
Forums
hey everyone,
i wanted to record couple of my peoms and maybe put a soft background on them.
i don't have anything, only two speakers.
I'm lookin for the cheapest way to get a decent mic.
someone told me to get a condenser mic with a 48 volt phantom power. in order to use that, apparently i need a pre-amp or a mixer.
anyone has any suggestion.

Help with Vegas Video please
Forums
Hi, I'm new to the forum, but have been recording for a while.
I recently had a few issues with my PC, i got a new soundcard, and had to rebuild the whole thing.
My set up is a Roland VSR 880 connected to a VM3100 pro. My soundcard is a Guillemot ISIS, and I'm using the SP/DIF input.

Any quality loss by using SPDIF?
Forums
Is there any quality loss by transferring digital information via an RCA SPDIF connection?
The reason I ask is because I want to take in 10 inputs at once on my digi 002 at 96k.
I was planning on going from a Rosetta's RCA SPDIF output into my 002.

Patchbay. Balanced or Unbalanced?
Forums
I would like to get a patchbay to make patch changes easier in my rack.
Im looking at the Beringher px2000 or px1000. What is the difference between Balanced and Unbalanced? (the PX2000 is unbalanced.)
All my cables are 1/4" mono plugs for routing around the various boxes. Some times I do voice through the same rack.

Stick with PT (mbox) or move on to a Roland VS-2480CD
Forums
I have been using PT LE 6.2.1 on my g4 dual for the last 10mths. Well when it works it's great, when it starts acting up, Im at a loss. My MAC troubleshooting skills suck and besides frequently visiting the DUC forum for advice. My setup has pissed me off. I just us it to mix and recording my own projects (at home). So if I go with a Roland are my cpu crashing days over?

m-audio bx8 construction?
Forums
this also applies to any lower end monitor. has anyone ever notices how much cabinet resonance these things have? has anyone ever disassembled them and added and sort of internal bracing or dampening to the cabinets in their monitors? what about upgrading the tiny tiny gauge speaker wire inside?
