Recommended headphones for mastering?
Forums
Hi all,
Currently using seinhenner hd200 headphones, but i find these to be too colourful for critical mastering. Any pro's out there got any recommendations for a decent set of phones? My room requires acoustic treatment before i can use it for critical mastering/mixing.
Thanks,
toti

533 vs 800 FSB on p4, 3.06
Forums
I would like to ask you what would be the difference (percentage-wise) in switching to 800FSB from 533FSB on P4 3.06? I have the latter and I'm thinking how much more power it would give me for mixing.
thx,
chris

Stand alone daw's?
Forums
Rick started a thread about a recording setup for beginners. It's important to pick a good device to record sounds with, and I wanted to take a little survey.
In the other thread Rod mentioned how fond he was of his Korg unit, I mentioned how much I liked a roland unit that I own, and now I want to know what every one else has.

Using a good pair of Headphones
Forums
I use the Sony MDR7506 headphones when tracking. The 7506's have been the mainstay in my studio for some time now. I'm starting to think otherwise about the overall performance of these things. Not saying they're not good phones but are they better than anything else on the market. I see some opt for a pair of AKGs or Sennheisers. Are there anyother good brands that I don't know about?

Recording under short notice and pressure
Forums
This past weekend I took on a project which consisted of learning, arranging and recording the music for a friend in as little as 4 days. And get this, the vocal session was scheduled the day before the project deadline. So during the vocal session we tracked & stacked the voices in 3 part harmony (3 tracks per part). Everything went as planned.

Choir Recording
Forums
I'm going to be recording a small choir (15-20 people) in the next few days, and they're going to be singing with a backing track. I'd like any advice on monitoring for them, and Micing the choir in a small room of about 15' x 20'.

L1
Forums
ok, to start out i'm making r&b and other urban type tracks. I have L1+ultramaximizer and use c1 for compression. I started this track, first eqed, then compressed just using the attack and release till it sounded good for each instrument...now, is the ratio and threshold more for controlling the volume or for balancing the sound to how you want it?
